Here we go again...

So, wasn't my last post about weather too? Maybe that's because there's nothing else to talk about because WE CAN'T GET OUT OF HERE!!! School was cancelled yet again--Bennett's only been to preschool twice in the last 2 weeks. So we're all starting to feel the effects of cabin fever, or worse: townhouse fever!

We woke up to 3-4 inches on the ground already, and it's been coming down ever since.

Our neighbor John McCarter came down and kindly shoveled our driveway, but by the time I came out with the boys to play, you could hardly tell he had done anything, so Bennett helped me shovel again... What a great helper, huh?

We were just finishing up our play/shoveling job when we saw a FAT robin go flying into our garage at top speed. She didn't hurt herself--I guess she just found a warmer place to hang out!

Ethan made a peanut butter and birdseed pinecone last week, so we pulled it out and laid it on the garage floor for her.

She didn't quite take to it; I think she was just trying to figure out where she was. But we got very close (as the picture indicates) and she never backed away from us--I think she was desperate! Anyway, finally she flew out of the garage and settled on a little bush in front of our house.

We hung the yummy pinecone on a tree in the front yard, and the boys keep checking on it to see if the robin has eaten any of it yet. They are very concerned that she stay well-fed and warm. I told them she probably likes staying closer to the house because it's warmer. Perfect object lesson on gratitude--we talked about how blessed we are to have a warm home when so many people and animals don't. So the little pinecone hanging out on the tree today is our reminder... and our gift :o)
